NOT REALLY AEROSMITH COVERS

The appended songs listed in this section were written by other songwriters but Aerosmith made them their own.

 CHIP AWAY THE STONE
Live! Bootleg [1978]

NOTE: Now, most would say this is an Aerosmith song. But, this song was recorded and released two times before Aerosmith first released it on their album "Live! Bootleg" (and later on "Gems" and the boxed set "Pandora's Box."). Since Aerosmith was not the first artist to record this song, I cannot include it in the list above.

COVERED BY: THE JONESES

INFO: The Richie Supa track "Chip Away The Stone" is said to have been recorded by a band called The Joneses in 1986 for their debut LP titled "Keepin' up with the Joneses" for Dr Dream records.

Not to be confused the soul group of the late 60's/early 70's with the same name who confusingly enough also had a release called "Keepin' Up With the Joneses". That album was released on Mercury Records in 1974 and does NOT include "Chip Away The Stone".

INCLUDED ON:
"Keepin' Up With The Joneses" [Dr Dream Records | 1986] (?)

INFO: The second(?) to record it was Richie Supa himself on his album "Tall Tales".

INCLUDED ON:
"Tall Tales" [Polydor Records | 1978]

 WALKIN' THE DOG
Aerosmith [1973]

COVERED BY: RATT

INFO: Ratt recorded and released the song "Walkin' The Dog" on thier self-titled debut album. Now, "Walkin' The Dog" is not originally an Aerosmith song. Rufus Thomas wrote and recorded this song and released it on his album "Walking The Dog" which was released on Stax Records in 1963. But, Ratt recorded and released this song "in honor of Aerosmith" and Aerosmith's version of the song...

INCLUDED ON:
"Ratt" [Time Coast Communications Records | 1983]
