Raise that one finger towards ignorant glances...

Rocker:

Edge:
Any admins out there having problems with the moo saying 'can't accept any more connections' it's your machine, and it's run out of file handles. Set your @cap to one less than the Bad Number so users will see the message telling them to finger aerosmith@sensemedia.net

Steven_Tyler:
we need to get one question at a time please...

Joey_Kramer:
: in response to the question about where we got the name aerosmith...i thought of it

Traveller:
Please hold your questions for just a moment, we are getting to them as fast as possible.

Joey_Kramer:

Steven_Tyler:
This gives hijacking a whole new meaning!

Joe_Perry:
She's Alicia Silverstone

Steven_Tyler:

Tom_Hamilton:
well once in a while we have to take a break and play our instruments

Rocker:
What made you get involved with this Censorship on the internet thing?

Joe_Perry:
We're against any kind of censorshiop

Edge:
[editor's note] The moderation system kinda flubbed, so we're bypassing th e normal podium. Rocker is acting as a second-level moderator and asking questions one at a time, and the band is answering.

Tom_Hamilton:
wether people realise it or not,we're all involved and affected by,censorship

Rocker:
how did you hear about the censorship of usenet newgroups?

Steven_Tyler:
Juan Sirrakah told us about censorship on the net...

Edge:
[editor's note REPEAT] The moderation system kinda flubbed, so we're bypassing th e normal podium. Rocker is acting as a second-level moderator and asking questions one at a time, and the band is answering.

Steven_Tyler:
Nikki...stranger things have happened.

Steven_Tyler:
indubitably!

Steven_Tyler:
She is my daughter.

Rocker:
what do you think the colleges should do about it?

Steven_Tyler:
for now, send stuffto Juanaf1@aol.com

Steven_Tyler:
music overthe net...there'll be surprises down the line

Joey_Kramer:
as far as the mnusic over the internt, we will get into it as soon as it aloit of things get straightened out

Rocker:
are you going to start distributing audio over the net?

Rocker:
are you going to start distributing audio over the net?

Joey_Kramer:
we will distributwe music over thenet when some tech stuff gets figured out

Brad Whitford:
Fire away...

Rocker:
so how do you feel about participating in experiments like distributed forum networks?

Joey_Kramer:
it is fun but it needs to be a little nre organized

Tom_Hamilton:
like jumping off a building with a blindfold

Steven_Tyler:
it's kind of cool. kind of scary. Do YOU know what's goin' on?

Joey_Kramer:
captain ahab

Rocker:
MTV started a whole new way to experience 'music', how do you see Aerosmith using the net to express yourselves in the future?

Tom_Hamilton:
our cyber road manager

Steven_Tyler:
it's anidea who's time had come.

Rocker:
right now your home page can be found at http://sensemedia.net/aerosmith

Joe_Perry:
Interacting with our audience (re: expressing ouselves in the future)

Joey_Kramer:
we'll al have to turn ouselves into net heads

Steven_Tyler:
maybe asking for help, asking for critique on artwork...

Rocker:
do you see releasing songs early to net users like some other artists?

Tom_Hamilton:
same way everybody does

Joe_Perry:
we would like to do that before we record it and get some feedback (re: pre-release)

Joe_Perry:
before we record it officially that is

Joey_Kramer:
we are connecting rigt from where we are connected

Joe_Perry:
or maybe not :)

Steven_Tyler:
but there's a lot of things that need to be worked out,first...

Rocker:
INTERNET Providers like the Internet Underground Music Archive are now putting garage bands up on the net. did you get a start in a garage? Paul: The band is coming in through MCSNet in Chicago.

Joe_Perry:
we started out more in a barn

Rocker:
a barn? what were you doing in a barn?

Tom_Hamilton:
hey everybody,we're jus[ we worked our way up to garage

Rocker:
What exactly is your involvement with the Electronic Frontier Foundation?

Steven_Tyler:
not yet

Joe_Perry:
No, not yet

Joey_Kramer:
i only surf on the ocean

Brad Whitford:
No not yet

Steven_Tyler:
They are the ACLU of Cyberspace.

Tom_Hamilton:
we 're finally gettin off the road and getting new computers.maybe now we'll be able to learn to use the net without all these geniuses hanging around

Brad Whitford:
Fighting censorship on EFF

Steven_Tyler:
The EFF is fighting to keep rights for people who don't know they even have them yet

Tom_Hamilton:
the net is the new wild west.keep it that way.

Steven_Tyler:
the publicity surrounding this event should get a lot more people aware of the net...

Steven_Tyler:
and what's going on.

Tom_Hamilton:
like the song said:you gota fight for your right to paaarty

Rocker:
now the aerosmith has their own website and presence on the internet..., what is next?

Joey_Kramer:
on emore mode of communication to fans

Steven_Tyler:
seemed like the thing to do atthe time...

Steven_Tyler:
we just found the web site. It's actually not our OWN. But it is way cool.

Rocker:
how does the record company support you on your network ventures?

Joe_Perry:
we definitely should have our own node

Joey_Kramer:
Geffen AND Sony both made donations to the EFF...and EMI

Rocker:
where are you now in real life?

Rocker:
where are you jacking in from?

Steven_Tyler:
a hotel Chicago.

Steven_Tyler:

Tom_Hamilton:
byrds love moby grape

Joey_Kramer:
the bands that i listen to are james brown, tower of power, spin doctors, pearl jam, jeff beck, uh...anything else i can get my hands on

Rocker:
how has censorship affected Aerosith?

Rocker:
how do you feel about the efforts to BAN records let alone usenet newsgroups:?

Steven_Tyler:
I'm the kind of person who when someo I can't...

Steven_Tyler:
I have to prove them wrong.

Joey_Kramer:
who is trying to ban records?

Tom_Hamilton:
banning should be bannes

Steven_Tyler:
Ban Roll On

Joey_Kramer:
no sweat

Joe_Perry:
No sweat!

Edge:
[forwarded Q] Joe Perry, do you feel you're under-rated as a guitarist? IE, Slash, Eric Clapton, Jimi Page, etc get great press. What's the deal? [gary in cincinnati]

Tom_Hamilton:
I meant to say BANNING SHOULD BE BANNED. too bad my typing sucks

Joey_Kramer:
greqt minds think alike

Brad Whitford:
And the Band played

Joe_Perry:
Good press is the kiss of death

Joey_Kramer:
we will just keep doing the same thing

Joe_Perry:
major labels will always try to sign the newest, hippest thing.

Rocker:
joey and what is the same thing?

Tom_Hamilton:
The same old thing is what has helped us co-exist with alternative

Joey_Kramer:
that is why we have two record companies working for u s at the same time

Joey_Kramer:
just the same old shit

Joey_Kramer:
not

Rocker:
any irony that kids of people that were listening to you on LPS are now listening to you on the NET?

Joey_Kramer:
isn't that in itself ironic

Steven_Tyler:
That's not irony, that's progress

Tom_Hamilton:
you might say that. irony makes it all keep goin' round

Rocker:
do you think that in moving forward to 'digital' you lost something from the big vynl lps?

Steven_Tyler:
no because when we go digital we always dump it back to analog

Rocker:
tell us a little about your next musical endeavour?

Tom_Hamilton:
some people think the old lp's sounded warmer but from what we can tell progress is progress

Steven_Tyler:
our nextendeavor, Jan &Feb, OFF! Cutting the tether...

Steven_Tyler:
we start writninginMarch...

Steven_Tyler:
and hope to be in the studio by july. new record by this time nextyear.

Rocker:
COOL. what about cybertour 95?

Joe_Perry:
Cybertour 95: We'll be there!

Joe_Perry:
only it'll probably be from the recording studio

Rocker:
early this year the government tried to get encryption called "clipper" passed as a standard.

Rocker:
this encryption had a backdoor so law enforcement could decode anyones messages.

Rocker:
what do you feel the proper role of government is in this?

Joe_Perry:
That's bullshit!

Joey_Kramer:
[ the government should butt out

Steven_Tyler:
Butt the fuck out

Joe_Perry:
Keeping the snow off the roads?

Joey_Kramer:
great minds think alike

Rocker:
do you plan to encrypt any of your content with PGP or any of the other public domain standards?

Steven_Tyler:
uh...we'll leave thatto the lawyers?

Joe_Perry:
You should've seen the priest when he christened me...

Joe_Perry:
;)

Joe_Perry:
Same shit different day!

Steven_Tyler:
its harder to getheard now, there's ten times asmanybands...

Tom_Hamilton:
[ I think it's more diverse.more opportunities tto make it

Steven_Tyler:
We didn't like the blood til we found out we could change the colors.

Tom_Hamilton:
4?!!! cAN't you count?

Steven_Tyler:
4? at a width of bandwaste!

Joey_Kramer:
don't asl questions unless you know how many band members there are

Rocker:
irc:what made you guys come clean and get off the drug scene?

Edge:
I'm wondering which band member doesn't COUNT! Comments?

Steven_Tyler:
or is thaa waste of bandwidth?

Tom_Hamilton:
we wanted to see what it was like to be awake

Steven_Tyler:
ran out of money.

Joe_Perry:
sick and tired of being sick and tired

Tom_Hamilton:
although I have to admit: being awake is highly overrated

Steven_Tyler:
I think that's whatwe're doing here.

Tom_Hamilton:
and sparky...

Joey_Kramer:
the band member that doesn't count is john paul jones

Rocker:
so, if you wanted the audience to get at least one message from this event, what would it be?

Steven_Tyler:
keep yer nose to the grindstone, it sharpens yer boogers

Rocker:
have you seen the EFF/Aerosmith T shirts? What do they look like for people without WWW access?

Rocker:
why do you think that EFF is a cause worthy of pushing T-shirts in their name?

Steven_Tyler:
It's the bill of rights and our logo, being sucked into the matrix of Cyberspace, through acomputer monitor..

Steven_Tyler:
really..

Tom_Hamilton:
do you want an oil company to own the net?do you want Lyndon LaRouche telling right from wrong?

Joe_Perry:
Dont' let you guard down about censorship, and and don't take freedom for granted (re: message to take home from this event)

Rocker:
What can ordinary internetters do to Help keep their guard up

Rocker:
what can they do to help fight censorship?

Steven_Tyler:
I'm sorry, but I gotta go. Hast Lumbago!

Joey_Kramer:
if you wqnt to help protect your rights, join the EFF
